The Codebreaker Who Beat Wall Street | Renaissance Technologies & the Medallion Fund

There is a fund on Long Island that has not lost money in a single year since 1988. Before fees it averaged about sixty six percent a year. You cannot buy into it. Nobody outside that building can.

It is real, and almost everything said about it online is guesswork.

What we left out

Claims we found and could not stand behind, so they are not in the video.

A dollar figure for Simons' own fortune, or for what Berlekamp's stake would be worth now. The video says out loud that it will not give one.
What the fund's trading signals actually are. Nobody outside the firm knows, and the video says so near the start.
The year outside investors were shut out. One source says from 1993 and another says 2003, so the video gives no date.
